A little sister for Cassidy

No. NO. NO.

Not that kind of little sister,

but THIS kind....

This is Suzy.

She belonged to me when I was very young, so the poor ugly thing (look at that frizzled hair!) has been around for well over 40 years. The doll has been in the corner of Cassidy's room for some time (she rescued it from the basement) but suddenly appeared on her radar this weekend. She delighted in dressing Suzy (in her own clothes!) and carrying her around. When I asked her what was with the "new friend" she said,

"This is my little sister - I wish I had one!"

This mom laughingly (though emphatically) said that that would not be happening. So now Suzy is ensconced in the rocking chair in the family room, wrapped in a blanket and ready to be included in family activities and television watching.

She *is* a little bit creepy looking, but completely benevolent.

And your niece would agree with her cousin on the sister deal. Her words last week: "people that have baby sisters are luckier than people that don't have baby sisters".

sigh....

I just about choked when I saw the headline for you post. I agree with K it is a bit creepy oOOOHH not sure it should be out I would be nervous about it staring at me all the time. K how funny my daughter went on about having sisters and we have had two Korean kids for three and a half weeks and she is happy that they are gone! So there you go they are never satisfied!

Gosh, if she had five minutes with Olivia, she would be convinced that having a little sister was not such a great idea. Olivia was asked to write a speech on any topic and she chose - "Why my little sister drives me crazy." On the flip side - she has proven to be a good orator :)

You guys make me laugh...Suzy doesn't freak me out at all, but you will notice that there is not one clown anywhere in my house...not a picture, or doll or figurine...THOSE are scary (shows that I shouldn't watch Stephen King movies).

And Vanessa, I love Olivia!!!!

clowns, puppets and dolls like Suzy -- all in the same scary category.

YIKES!

I guess it is all perception. I should post a picture of my beloved "Teddy"...still loved after 46 years - no more fur, bedraggled and limp, with little green buttons replacing long missing eyes. Perhaps to other eyes he would appear freaky too, though all I see is an old friend.

Stay tuned.

Awwww... old Teddy. My "Tigger" (actually a leopard. or maybe a cheetah?) is still going strong, although threadbare and held together with scotch tape at the seams. I should probably sew him up one of these days....

Hey did you ever think you'd get so much feedback about a doll? We all obviously are deeply psychologically traumatized....
